Creating a secondary copy for long-term retention on a repository with limited space
Recommended settings:
GFS points require considerable amount of space. Since BCJ creates an incremental point every copy interval, instead of using GFS points, you can set copy interval to 1 week for example. Set retention to desired number (for example, 30 point will give you a backup chain going back for 6 months). If you have space for a temporary full backup, enable Compact full option (under Target – Advanced – Maintenance) every couple of month to avoid full backup fragmentation. Optionally enable periodic health checks.
